Hi all - seeking your wisdom! I really enjoyed Angie's post on packing for a cold trip, but I have a few extra questions.
I'm heading off to the south island of New Zealand next month. It's the start of summer, but will still be cool (by my standards at least!). Weather reports suggest it will be top of 15-18 degrees celsius in the day. To put this in perspective, in Brisbane it would only get to this temp for two or maybe three days per year, in the very depths of winter, so I'm a bit perplexed by it all. I know some of you have been to NZ - and Sal, I know you are based there, so I was wondering if you had any advice on jackets!
I bought a Uniqlo puffer, because I am petrified of being cold! It packs up into a tiny parcel, so I'm not worried about packing it. Then I got a good raincoat (I am also going to Ireland next year, so this is a key purchase).
But I am wondering whether to wear a third, dressy wool coat on the plane. During my time in NZ, I will go to two conferences, and I don't overly want to wear "gear" to either. There will be lots of lawyers there, who tend to dress up. But on the other hand, three jackets seems an overkill for 10 days away in summer! Any thoughts for someone who feels the cold?
