PORT ST. LUCIE — A local mother was arrested Wednesday and accused of leaving her 6-year-old daughter in the car while she drank at a bar, then later driving the car and crashing it, according to an arrest affidavit.

Amber Burford, 28, of the 400 block of Southwest Ewing Avenue, was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm and driving under the influence, according to the report.

Soon after midnight Wednesday, Port St. Lucie police were called to Mumbles Pub, in the 1000 block of Southwest Bayshore Boulevard, after a bartender noticed the 6-year-old in the car while she served Burford, according to the report. The bartender took the drink away from Burford, and Burford left the bar.
