Meet Lauren Drain, the "World's Hottest Nurse"

Updated

Lauren Drain is clearly a woman of many talents.

The 31-year-old registered nurse is also a certified personal trainer, bikini pro, best-selling author and bikini model. Since launching her fitness empire, Drain has amassed over 3.7 million Instagram followers, as well as a successful training program and numerous meal guides. Her Instagram success (@laurendrainfit) has earned her the title of "World's Hottest Nurse."

But she's not "just a model," she asserts.

"I have held full-time jobs in healthcare since the age of 16, and have been a cardiac registered nurse for over 8 years - 5 of which I spent working full-time night shifts, while also working a second nursing job per-diem. I have experience in an intermediate ICU setting (the ICU step-down), and have been a charge nurse for the last several years while I worked every floor of the hospital. I can help run a code, teach a patient about their medications, and work life-sustaining equipment. I am not "just a model," she writes in her online biography.

Years ago, after being overworked in the hospital, Drain decided to make a major change.

"I wanted to be a healthy, fit, strong, confident woman, actively preventing disease instead of treating everything with pills and medication," she explained according to The Sun. "I wanted to change my life for the better and I wanted to help others before they lost control of their health too."

So she took on a paleo diet, entered a number of bikini competitions, and worked her way up. The now-married Drain credits hard work to her lifestyle change, hoping to inspire others as she moves forward.

She said, "After eight years in professional healthcare, I have never seen a natural athlete stuck in a terrible health crisis. There's a reason for that: fit, active lifestyles reduce the risk of disease and promote overall wellness," maintained The Sun.

But her life wasn't all that easy. Drain grew up in "the most hated cult in America," the Westboro Baptist Church. She was later ex-communicated from her family and siblings because of nonconformance.

"I was indoctrinated into the cult as a child but was later banished due to nonconformance. Sent to a motel room with nothing more than a suitcase, I was forbidden from all forms of communication with my siblings and family members. We have not spoken since. I've had to rebuild my entire life while looking through the hourglass at the family and friends I once had," she explained on her website at www.laurendrain.com.
